PURPOSE:To maintain stable operation against vibration by fixing a rack holding bracket to an optical recording and reproducing head holding part and thrusting a rack against a gear through a spring. CONSTITUTION:The dynamic power of a driving motor 6 is transmitted to a rack 1 through a worm 12, gears 13, 3, 2. A spring 11 is interposed between the rack 1 and a rack holding bracket 10, and the rack is always thrust against the gear 2 to remove back-lash between the rack 1 and gear 2. The rack holding bracket 10 is fixed to an optical recording and reproducing head holding part and traverses the optical recording and reproducing head holding part parallel to a slide shaft 7. When the optical recording and reproducing head holding part collided against a spindle motor 5 or a box 8 to which the slide shaft 7 is attached, the spring 11 soften the shock of collision.
