A conveyor belt with at least one endless belt 1, 1' has two (longitudinal) tensile force-absorbing devices 3, 4, 3', 4', which extend over the entire length of the conveyor belt, and which are each connected to a separate edge part of the belt and extend outwards from the plane of this edge part. The conveyor belt is sealed by a longitudinal edge over at least a part of its length. One of the edge parts of the belt overlaps and extends outside the second edge part of the belt along the sealed part of the length of the conveyor belt, especially with its (longitudinal) tensile force-absorbing device 3, 3' projecting in the same direction as the (longitudinal) tensile force-absorbing device 4, 4' on the second edge part of the belt. When the conveyor belt has a single belt 1, the two (longitudinal) tensile force-absorbing devices 3, 4 on the belt project out from opposite sides of the belt 1 in its straightened condition. In the case of a double belt conveyor, each belt has two (longitudinal) tensile force-absorbing devices, which may project either from the same side or each from its own side of the belt in its straightened condition. <IMAGE>
