PURPOSE:To remove dripping ink effectively by applying a drive pulse which generates ink droplets to run into the lower surface of a nozzle outlet by jet force. CONSTITUTION:Ink droplets 3a injected from a nozzle 2 are caused to collide with ink particles 4 adhering to the surface 1 of a nozzle outlet so that the ink droplets may fall with the ink particles 4 adhering to the surface of the nozzle outlet. An appropriate drive voltage should be close to the level of the lowest ink discharge voltage. In addition, if the repetitive frequency of a pulse is too high, the dripping of ink droplets will become significant, stirring the ink. This results in the entrainment of air bubbles into the nozzle, so that the optimum repetitive frequency of a pulse is 1-10Hz. The adhering ink should be regularly removed when a carriage is at a home position or a printer is started or during operation. |
