PURPOSE:To improve trackability to a reference speed and to position a magnetic head quickly and correctly by giving to an electric tachogenerator a correction signal canceling external force caused by a change in the shape of a flexible printing conductor. CONSTITUTION:The output signal of a position signal generator 2 is inputted to the electric tachogenerator 3 to convert into a speed signal, which is compared with a reference speed signal. A current is supplied to a VCM 7 and a magnetic head 1 is driven. In accordance with the position of the head 1 the shape of the flexible printing conductor 10 changes to vary external force given by the conductor 10. Accordingly the size of the external force corrected by the output of the generator 2 can be estimated. An offset circuit 8 adds a correction signal corresponding to the position signal of the input to the generator 3. Thus trackability to the reference speed can be improved, whereby the head 1 can be positioned quickly and correctly.
