PURPOSE:To obtain the titled polymer in high yield with crosslinking time shortened, by oxidative crosslinking by heating, in a fluidized bed reactor with jacket equipped with agitator therein, of a polymer prepared from alkali metal sulfide and polyhaloaromatic compound in an organic polar solvent. CONSTITUTION:A polyarylene sulfide polymer prepared by reaction between an alkali metal sulfide and polyhaloaromatic compound is fed from a hopper 1 to a fluidized bed reactor 4 equipped with both agitator 5 and jacket 6 while preheating on a screw feeder 2, being fluidized by an air introduced through a line 18 to perform oxidative crosslinking by heating the reactor 4 through circulation, with lines 7 and 8, of heating medium heated by a heater 17, under an oxygen-contg. atmosphere, thus obtaining the objective polymer.
