In this construction, a flexible broad band made of steel, rubber, plastic etc. has been fastened at a point in a circular housing. Via a single-vane or multi-vane rotor, which is mounted centrally on an axis, the flexible band runs off during the rotor rotation and forms varying chamber sizes. The suction and compression effect thus created is guided through bores in the housing, to which the suction and discharge lines are connected. A cooling, when necessary, can take place either by direct connection to the engine cooling (in the case of use for motor vehicle engines) or by means of openings for fresh air in the corresponding places in the housing cover. The fresh air is pumped to and fro by the rotor. <IMAGE>
