PURPOSE:To increase storage life and discharge performance by using a synthetic fiber nonwoven fabric containing silicon dioxide powder or silicate powder as a separator placed between a negative electrode and a positive mix. CONSTITUTION:A separator 3 is used by placing between a lithium negative electrode 2 and a positive mix 4. Impurities such as peroxide and oxygen contained in an organic electrolyte within the positive mix 4 are adsorbed in or decomposed to form a stable compound by silicon dioxide or silicate contained in the separator before they reach the lithium negative electrode 2. Thereby, a passive film is not formed on the surface of the lithium which serves as a negative active material, and the surface of the lithium retrains active. Therefore, an increase in internal resistance and a drop in voltage are prevented and the storage life is improved over a long period of time.
