In an appliance for the continuous removal of the top side of a block-shaped silage fodder bale cut from a mobile silo, which, in particular, can be combined with a silo-block cutter known per se, in that it is provided with a frame which is guided into the vertical guides of the cutting member of the silo-block cutter and can be laid by its own weight onto the top side of the fodder bale and which possesses removing tools in the lower bearing region and has driving members for actuating the removing tools, there are provided as removing tools rod parts which extend approximately horizontally and transversely relative to the vertical guides and of which the undersides facing away from the frame are fitted with scraping elements arranged in rows. Each rod part is articulated via coupling crossmembers on crank pins of cranks which are fastened to shaft ends of shafts driven by the driving member, the shafts extending transversely relative to the rod parts.
