PURPOSE:To protect multilayered film of optical fiber which causes liably deterioration of characteristics due to occurrence of external damage by providing a resin film further to the external periphery of the clad of the multilayered film. CONSTITUTION:Clad 2 on the multilayered film consisting of P6F2 and AgBr is covered on the external periphery of an optical fiber core 1. Further, a resin layer 3 comprising polyethylene is coated on the clad 2. The optical fiber comprises crystals of silver halide, crystals of thallium halide, or crystals of alkali halide, such as AgCl, AgBr, TlCl, TlI, TlBr, or their mixed crystals, or CsI, CsBr or their mixed crystals. By this constitution, the multilayered film cn be protected. |
