<p>A tape splicing mechanism has means (28, 29) for drawing a standard length of splicing tape (44) from a source of supply thereof and means for severing (34) a portion of the splicing tape (44) from the leading end of this standing length; the severed end portion is then displaced by displacement means (21, 22) in a direction generally parallel to the standing length, from the cut off position to an application position where it is to be applied to a tape to be spliced. The displacement means (21, 22) are provided with stroke setting means (34, 35, 36, 37, 38) by which the length of stroke thereof in carrying the severed end portion from the cut off position to the application position can be set whereby selectively to determine at least two different lengths of stroke of the displacement means (21, 22).</p> |
