PURPOSE:To improve workability for engine assembly by providing a reinforcement plate sandwiched between the lower end of a cylinder block and an oil pan, tightening said plate to the cylinder block together with the oil pan and then applying a whole tightening process thereto with another tightening means. CONSTITUTION:In the construction wherein an oil pan 16 is located under the cylinder block 11 of an engine 10, a reinforcement plate 17 is provided between the cylinder block 11 and the oil pan 16. A flanged part 17a is formed on the reinforcement plate 17 opposite to the flanged part 11a of the cylinder block 11 and the flanged part 16a of the oil pan 16. The flanged part 16a is set to length corresponding to the outer side of the flanged part 11a and the flanged part 17a set to the outer side of the flanged part 11a, respectively. And in the assembly of the engine 10, the flanged parts 17a and 11a are fist coupled to each other via bolts 20 and then the flanged parts 16a and 17a coupled thereto via bolts 21.
