PURPOSE:To remove surely uncomfortableness due to the disturbance of a screen or the generation of noise by outputting a video signal in a receiving channel or a video signal such as a still picture previously stored in a storing means to the outside when a video signal is not included in a signal reproduced from a magnetic tape. CONSTITUTION:When a video signal is not included in an output signal generated from a video reproducing circuit 1, a video signal detecting circuit 4 outputs a video signal received from a broadcasting station in stead of the reproduced signal obtained from the magnetic tape. When detecting a channel receiving a video signal, the circuit 4 inputs the video signal received by the channel to a video circuit 3. When there is no channel receiving a video signal, the circuit 4 instructs the 2nd signal selecting circuit 5 to select an output signal of a memory 7, and then excites a memory control circuit 8 to read out a video signal such as a still picture previously stored in the memory 7. Consequently, the video signal of the still picture is inputted to the video circuit 3 through the 2nd signal selecting circuit 5 and the 1st signal selecting circuit 2.
