PURPOSE:To stop magnet switch operation during starter motor inertia rotation and to enable replunge to be prevented by providing connection of a normally- closed protecting relay between a suction coil and a starter motor. CONSTITUTION:When a starting switch 2 is opened after an engine is started, no electric current flows through a holding coil 3a, a plunger 3d returns in the original state, and a moving contact 3c leaves the first and the second fixed contacts 3e, 3f. However, while a starter motor 5 is under the inertia rotation, electric current flows through a relay coil 4d due to a voltage generated by inertia rotation, and a protecting relay 4 is kept released until rotation of the starter motor 5 becomes extremely small. Therefore, during the inertia rotation of the starter motor 5, even if a driver recloses the starting switch 2 by mistake, no electric current flows through a suction coil 3b, so magnet switch 3 is never operated without a plunger 3d sucked in.
