PURPOSE:To obtain a conveyor in which electromagnets disposed at the sides of a conveying path are completely noncontacted by disposing the electromagnets at the path sides. CONSTITUTION:A conveying path 10 provided on a ground side has a base 11, the stator 12 of a linear motor, an electromagnet 13, a gap detecting sensor 14 and a moving body position detecting sensor 15. A moving body 20 is disposed to cross the path 10, and the attracting force between the electromagnet 13 and a plate 201 provided on the lower portion of the moving body and the own weight of the body are balanced. The surface to be attracted of the plate 201 is formed substantially in E-shaped section, and grooves formed along the moving direction are formed by three pinions 202. Pinions 132 corresponding to the pinions 202 are formed on the surface (attracting surface) of the electromagnet 13 opposed to the plate 201. Thus, a holding force is generated in a direction that the pinions 202 of the plate 201 and the pinions 132 of the electromagnet 13 are superposed on each other.
