The invention relates to double axle drives for rail vehicles having a motor-transmission unit which is supported on the axles of the wheel sets of a bogie and consists of a drive motor which is located with its axle in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle between the axles of the wheel sets and in each case one angular gear which is flanged onto its two end sides, each angular gear having on the power output side a hollow shaft which surrounds the respective axle of the wheel set essentially concentrically and is connected thereto by means of couplings. It is proposed that each hollow shaft be connected to the associated axle of the wheel set with a flexible coupling only. These couplings have to transmit the torque and receive the weight of the motor-transmission unit. The connecting line of the bending points of the couplings runs approximately through the centre of gravity of the motor-transmission unit.
