METHOD AND TEST KIT FOR THE IMMUNOLOGICAL DETECTION OF A FISH DISEASE (HITRA DISEASE, COLD WATER VIBRIOSIS) CAUSED BY VIBRIO SALMONICIDA

A method for detecting ''Hitra disease'' in fish by immunological detection of the bacterial antigen VS-P1 in a blood or tissue sample from the fish. VS-P1 is bound to an antibody having affinity/specificity to VS-P1 whereupon, if desired, the concentration of VS-P1 in the sample is determined by comparing with measurements of standardized concentrations of VS-P1. A test kit for use in detecting ''Hitra disease'' in fish comprising a solid matrix coated with an antibody having affinity/specificity to VS-P1, an irrelevant protein for saturating the matrix, an isotonic buffer solution, an enzyme antibody conjugate having affinity/specificity to VS-P1, a chromogen substrate and, if desired, standardized amounts of VS-P1.
