PURPOSE:To easily and quickly recognize the communications situation by permitting an extension network control unit to call the telephone set of a previously inputted extension number upon the completion of facsimile transmission and transmitting its communications situation (information on normal termination or on abnormal one) to the telephone set concerned. CONSTITUTION:When a transmitting party execute facsimile communications, he sets a transmission original on a facsimile equipment, and then inputs information necessary for facsimile transmission such as an opposite party's telephone number and a transmission mode through an operating part 7. If the transmitting party in a distance place wants to recognize the communications situation of the transmission through an extension telephone set, he inputs simultaneously the extension number through the operating part 7. After starting the communications, a relay 23 disconnects the connection between a MODEM 20 and an outside line NCU 21, and switches to the connection between the MODEM 20 and an extension NCU 22. Here the telephone line of the outside line (outside line telephone set) is disconnected from the MODEM 20, which is connected to the telephone line of the extension (extension telephone set).
