PURPOSE:To perform the effective read/write of data by supplying an IC driving voltage from a read/write device to an IC card, and deciding a control method for an interface between the IC card and the read/write device corresponding to a time required for the leading of a signal returned from the IC card corresponding to the supplying of the voltage. CONSTITUTION:By supplying the IC driving voltage from a read/write device 11 to an IC card 1, and monitoring the leading of the signal returned from the IC card corresponding to this, the control method for the interface between the IC card 1 and the read/write device 11 is decided corresponding to the time required for the leading of the signal from the start of the supplying of the IC driving voltage. In such a case, the IC card can be constituted so that a capacitor is started to charge from a time when the IC driving voltage is supplied, and the signal is made rise at a prescribed voltage level. Also, it is possible to constitute the IC card so that the prescribed number of clocks used in its own card is counted from the time when the IC driving voltage is supplied, and the signal is brought to leading at the completion of a counting.
