PURPOSE:To enable simultaneous machining of preparatory hole in the end face of a work and insertion of joint parts by allowing tool heads on a preparatory hole machining shaft and a parts inserting shaft to move in followup synchronously with a processing member moving continuously, wherein the tool heads shall include reciprocative motion. CONSTITUTION:In this preparatory hole processing unit, a processing head in contact with each member consists of a gear box 3 having a plurality of drill shafts 3a, and drills thereon 3a perform boring in the member while a slide 12 is moved by a servo motor 11 in following-up synchronously to caterpillars. When boring is finished, a slide table 13 is returned and makes again followup movement synchronously to the motion of the member in the position where a parts inserting unit mates with the preparatory hole. Thus parts insertion is performed. In the parts inserting unit, adhesive is injected in the holes, and each dowel is punched out from each dowel outlet in dowel insertion head 9 by a hammer shaft of a hammer cylinder, and thus inserted in each preparatory hole and fixed.
