PURPOSE:To reduce the potential recovery time of a charge accumulation layer and provide sufficient charge read-out while maintaining anti-blooming characteristics of respective cells and avoid shading by a method wherein a potential setting part for an impurity well layer and the predetermined position of a barrier layer are made to contact with each other. CONSTITUTION:The difference between a conventional unit cell and the unit cell of the present invention is that a barrier layer 7 is extended to be directly contacted wit a light shielding film 8 in place of a charge accumulation layer 3. As the charge accumulation layer 3 is eliminated, the shallow region of a P-type impurity well 2, as an overflow drain, is not necessary. The light shielding film 8 is made of low resistance material such as aluminum and connected to a potential setting part for the P-type impurity well 2 or the position near the part. With this constitution, resistance components between the barrier layer 7 and the potential setting part and between the P-type impurity well 2 and the potential setting part of this cell are very small and a recovery time T near the cell can be reduced. |
