System consisting of a number of batten stops 2 pivoting around the mast. These aerodynamically shaped stops are a constituent part of the sail; the leading edge is situated in front of the mast. These stops are rendered integral by a link 5 (rope for example). The stops have a housing at the trailing edge, where the battens 3 enter in a forced manner. The sail is thus constituted by a sleeve 6, in which the stops 2 having a thick profile are accommodated, followed by the the sail surface 4 which is stiffened by the battens 3. The aim of the system is to increase the efficiency of the sail obtained by greater curvature than the conventional system. <IMAGE>
