<p>PURPOSE:To automatically assemble a heavy article by adjusting the position of the elevation table of a heavy article mounting device according to the actual position of a mounted article and correctly assembling the mounted article onto a vehicle. CONSTITUTION:A chassis 14 supported onto a changer 12 is transported to a position detection station STs and a mounting station STp which are installed in an automobile assembly line in succession. At the mounting station STp, a front side lifter 20 for mounting an engine unit 17 onto the chassis 14 and a rear side lifter 21 for mounting a rear axle unit 18 onto the chassis are installed. The visual sensors 16a-16d confirm the position of the chassis 14 which is carried into the station STs and brought into stop and correct the position of a rotary elevation table 64 for mounting an engine, etc. Then, an elevation cylinder is operated to raise the engine, etc., which is assembled onto the chassis.</p> |
