PURPOSE:To improve sensitivity in the infrared spectral region and storage stability of a photosensitive material by specifying the average particle diameter of a matting agent to be added to the emulsion layer of the photosensitive material spectrally sensitized in the infrared region and/or to other hydrophilic colloidal layers. CONSTITUTION:The maximum sensitivity of the silver halide photographic sensitive material is controlled to the wavelength region longer than 700nm by adding an optional IR sensitizing dye, preferably, in an amount of 5X10<-7>-X10<-3>mol per mol of silver halide to the silver halide emulsion layer. The matting agent to be used as an average particle diameter of, preferably, 1-10mum, if over that range, moire is caused, and if below it, slidability and antistaticness are deteriorated. It is used, preferably, in an amount of 5-100% of the binder of the layer to be added on the dry weight basis, thus permitting moire trouble in the longer wavelength region to be prevented, and the obtained photosensitive material to have no static trouble and appropriate slidability. |
