<p>The device comprises a three-position switch (2) of which two positions correspond, the one to direct powering of the lamp, the other to its extinction. The third position of the switch (2) permits the connecting in series with the lamp (1) of a circuit for controlling progressive extinction. This circuit comprises means (3, 4) for generating a series of pulses with frequency a multiple of the mains frequency, light-dimming means (5) able to control the progressive conducting of the switching means (6) connected in series between the lamp (1) and one of the switching positions of the switch (2).
