PURPOSE:To make it possible to perform high speed transfer by enhancing the heat conductivity of a thermal head and that of an ink layer, by directly and uniformly supplying heat meltable ink to the thermal head array arranged to the surface of a printing medium. CONSTITUTION:The surface of a printing medium 3 is contacted with the surface of a supply roller 5 and the supply roller 5 is rotated to a counterclockwise direction to uniformly supply the heat-meltable ink preliminarily applied to the surface of the ink supply roller 5 to the surface of the thermal head array 4 embedded in the printing medium 3. Supplied paper is held between a platen roller 1 and the printing medium to be lightly pressurized and, in this state, an electric signal is applied to the thermal head array 4 to imagewise transfer the heat-meltable ink supplied to the surface of the thermal head array 4 to the surface of the supplied paper to form an image. After the image was formed, the printing medium 3 is allowed to be spaced apart from the platen roller 1 and contacted with the ink supply roller 5 to uniformly supply the heat- meltable ink to the surface of the thermal head array 4 embedded in the printing medium 3. |
