PURPOSE:To form narrow track width without generating a chip or the like by forming the width of a floating slide surface of a slider equally to the width of a C-core part and inserting a magnetic metal material having width narrower than said width into a gap. CONSTITUTION:The width 5' of the floating slide surface of the slider is formed equally to the width of the slide surface 6 of a track of the C-core part 2 and a recording track whose width 10 is narrower than said width is formed by a magnetic metal material 9 in the gap. To produce the magnetic head, thin films consisting of the magnetic metal material 9 such as 'Sendust(R)' are respectively formed on a slider block 1 and a C-core block 2, the required track width 10, 10' are formed by etching so as to be set up to 10mum and 20mum respectively and then both the blocks are joined with each other. The joined block body is then cut off by a width 5' of side surface larger than the track width. Consequently, mechanical strength is increased and a narrow track can be formed without generating a chip or the like even if narrow track width such as 10mum is formed.
