NEW MATERIAL:Neutral L-arginine L-malate crystals. USE:An additive for enriching nutriment and medicine. High-purity crystals, stable to moisture in a crystal state, having very high solubility in water and most suitable for oral administration because of no taste and odor. PREPARATION:Two mol L-arginine and 1mol L-malic acid are subjected to neutralization reaction in an aqueous solvent by adjusting pH to 6.0-8.5, prefer ably 6.5-7.5 to give a neutral salt. The titled compound is then deposited from the aqueous solution containing the neutral salt by a method for adding a hydrophilic organic solvent, e.g. methanol, etc., or supplying seed crystals, The concentration of the aqueous solution containing the neutral salt to be used for the depositing operation is preferably 50-70%.
