[Also in Division F2] In a windscreen wiper drive mechanism, each end of a link 4 which interconnects a rotary crank 2 and an oscillatory crank 12 is pivotally connected to a crank-pin 3 of its associated crank by a bearing bush 5 formed as a rectangular prism two opposite faces 23, 24 of which are respectively of convex and concave curvature and form part of the surfaces of the larger and smaller of two concentric cylinders of different radii, the opposite faces being respectively engaged by opposite longitudinally spaced edges 25, 26 of a rectangular opening in the end. The bush 5 may be retained by a circlip 21, or, if the bush is made of flexible plastics material, flexible prongs may be moulded integrally therewith for engagement with a groove 22 formed in the crank-pin 3. The bush may be made of a polyamide resin, polyacetal resin, polypropylene or polyurethane or of metal such as sintered bronze, sintered stainless steel or of carbon. The longitudinal spaced edges 25, 26 of the recess may be folded over to form beaded edges adapted to receive the bush 5. Alternatively spring clips 40, 41, which may be linked by a connector strip, are used for mounting the bush 5. Similar bearings interconnect a link 8 with rotary crank 2 and an oscillatory crank 13. |
