The continuously running strip of material to be glazed is pressed at a large enclosure angle against the smooth surface of a rotating glazing cylinder. The cylinder is heated, and its peripheral speed coincides with that of the strip. The pressing is achieved using an endless, running, elastic pressure compensn. mat. A thin, endless, running metal strip is pressed by a number of stationary pressure components against the compensn. mat. The mat, metal strip and pressure components have the same width as the material strip, and are supported by guide rollers. The pressure components are formed as electromagnetic circuits, the force field of which has the opposite direction to that of the thin metal strip, or as open chambers facing the metal strip with internal excess pressure of gas or fluid, sealed without metal contact against the metal strip running past them and forming the closing walls of the chambers. |
