An agent which cures in the absence of oxygen for bonding surfaces, comprising a polymerisable, elastifying di(meth)acrylate monomer component, (meth)acrylate monomers and a source of free radicals which initiates polymerisation of the monomers under the conditions for producing the bond. This agent gives elastic polymer films which simultaneously also have high adhesion to diverse surfaces. This combination of characteristics significantly broadens the range of applications as an adhesive and sealant compared with conventional systems, so that flexible metal parts, thermoplastic parts and elastic parts which are subjected to high impact and vibration stresses can also be bonded.
