PURPOSE:To make it possible to enlarge a detectable region to judge the directional property and to rotate a detection unit toward a direction where light is intense thereby to enable a remote control position to be detected accurately by detecting a relative value between photocurrents of two light receiving elements. CONSTITUTION:A light emitting element 3 is provided on a position detected unit 2 made of a remote controller, and two light receiving element 4a and 4b provided at a position detection unit, and the detection unit is rotated by rotating means 5. When the detection unit is rotated, an angle difference is provided at a peak point of a light receiving current of light receiving elements, and the photocurrent of the light receiving elements 4a and 4b is amplified by means of amplifying means 6. Further, two photoamplified outputs are compared with each other by comparison means 7, and at rotation control means 8, a position detection region is rotate by light receiving elements and rotating means 5 is controlled by the inverting output of comparison means 7. That is, the detection unit is rotated toward a direction where light is intense whereby the position of the position detected unit can be detected continuously with high precision.
