PURPOSE:To discriminate a color pattern itself, and simultaneously, to execute the detection of a position, as well, by deriving an inter-pattern distance to a feature quantity stored in advance with regard to a standard color pattern, and deciding that the corresponding color pattern is detected in an input color image when the inter-pattern distance is small. CONSTITUTION:An image 1 is scanned by a sensor 2, three digitized signals R, G, and B are inputted to an arithmetic means 3, and the arithmetic means 3 calculates the product of picture elements at every picture element. For instance, five values of R as a result of R<1>G<0>B<0>, and in the same way, G and B as a result of R<0>G<1>B<0> and R<0>G<0>B<1>, and thereafter, R2, and G and B are outputted as signals from the arithmetic means 3. Each signal is inputted to the respective product sum means 4, and the product sum means 4 gives prescribed weight (w) (i, j) to the signal of each input picture element. The weight increases the stability, and for instance, a shape 31 which has approximated discretely a normal distribution function 30 is used. Each product sum output obtained by the product sum means is delayed by several stages, by a delay means, respectively. |
