PURPOSE:To obtain a 3-acetoxy derivative, by reacting 5-[2-(dimethylamino) ethyl]-3-hydroxy-2-(p-methoxyphenyl)-2,-3-dihydro-1,5-benzothiazepin-4 (5H)-one with acetic anhydride. CONSTITUTION:A compound expressed by formula I is reacted with 1.2-2mol acetic anhydride in the presence of hydrochloric acid, preferably concentrated hydrochloric acid at 40-100 deg.C for 0.5-3hr to afford the aimed 3-acetoxy-5-[2-(dimethylamino)ethyl]-2-(p-methoxyphenyl)-2,-3-dihydro- 1,5-benzothi azepin-4(5H)-one hydrochloride expressed by formula II in one step. EFFECT:The aimed substance is obtained in good yield by simple operation. USE:A remedy for ischemic cardiopathy.
