The photocopier has a toner powder hopper which is topped up by special bags of toner. These are sealed bags supported from an upper bar and hung into the hopper on a guide rail (26). A cutter (31) tears open the bags when the hopper lid is closed so that excess toner does not soil the operator. The bags hang from guide rails, and when the hopper cover is closed the rails move the bags over a rotating saw blade to release the toner. The spent bags are pushed to one side of the hopper. Eventually all the spent bags are removed at once e.g. when the machine has a routine service.
