A transport mechanism for magnetic tape recording and playback apparatus includes a member 9 of circular arc shape with a plurality of rollers 6, 7, 8 running on the inner periphery of member 9 and rotatably attached to a rotatable body 1 having its centre of rotation 2 coinciding with the centre of the circular arc member 9. The body 1 is provided with several magnetic heads 3, 4, 5 for contacting a magnetic tape 10 which passes over rollers 6, 7, 8. Two of the rollers 6, 7, 8 are always in contact with the inner periphery of member 9 and consequently in driving engagement with tape 10. The arrangement is such that the identical tape section will be passed many times by the magnetic heads whilst it is passing through the mechanism. Cam controlled rocker arms 11, 12 compensate for the variation in velocity of the tape. |
