PURPOSE:To form a cured coated film having excellent corrosion preventiveness and smoothness at the end face of a material to be coated by coating a high pigment content thick film type electrodeposition paint compounded with a specific ratio of the pigment with a resin component on the material to be coated to a specific dry film thickness. CONSTITUTION:The electrodeposition paint is prepd. by compounding >=40pts.wt., more preferably 50-60wt% pigment with 100pts.wt. resin component. A combination of carbon black, strontium chromate, talc, etc., is used for the pigment and the electrodeposition paint may be of either anion or cation type. The electrodeposition paint is electrodeposition-coated on the material to be coated in the stirred state generally under the conditions of about 25-35 deg.C bath temp., about 100-400V voltage, about 0.01-3A/dm<2> current density, and about 1-5min current conduction time. The film deposited on the material to be coated is baked and cured at about 150-180 deg.C after cleaning. The film is thus formed thereon to >=30mu, more preferably 35-50mu dry film thickness.
