Device for breaking up waste into short sections. To produce a low-noise breaking-up installation which in addition has a simple design and can cope with materials of varying thickness without need for adjustment it is envisaged that it is provided with two synchronously and mutually counter-rotating rotors (4, 5) with blades (14, 18) which project on the circumference, and effect a shearing action when they come in contact, and that, in order to drive the blade rotors (4, 5) locked on the shafts (2, 3) at a fixed axial distance, two meshing gear-wheels (6, 7) are provided of which one (6) is mounted on the shaft (2) of the first rotor (4) and propels the latter, while the other (7) is mounted to rotate freely on the shaft (3) relating to the second rotor (5) and drives this shaft by a mechanism (9 to 13) which is flexibly supported in the direction of rotation. |
