PURPOSE:To prevent dust and refuse from entering a containing chamber during the use of a wiper, to reduce air resistance of a vehicle, and to appearance, by a method wherein, during the use of a wiper, the upper opening of the containing chamber is closed with a closing member, which is positioned about flush with the surface of a surrounding car body. CONSTITUTION:A louper 28 is opened during the use of a wiper 28, a wiper assembly 10 is rotated centering around a fulcrum 42 with the aid of a pop-up motor 44 for raising, and wiper parts 43 and 58 are protruded through an opening above a containing chamber 16. Simultaneously, the opening is closed with a mole 87 secured to the wiper assembly 10. Since a sealed rubber 89 is forced into pressure contact with the lower edge of a windshield glass 12, dust and refuse are prevented from entering the containing chamber 16. Further, since a mole 87 is positioned about flush with the surface of a surrounding car body, air resistance can be reduced during running, and the style of a vehicle can be improved.
