A filter apparatus for blood for separating blood serum from coagulum is provided with a cylinder-like receiving tube (11), which is closed at the bottom and open at the top, and a sampling tube (16), which is displaceable therein in a piston-like manner, which sampling tube is provided at the bottom with a filter. The filter is composed of a filter piston receiving cylinder (12), a filter pot piston (13) inserted therein, which is open towards the bottom, between the peripheral wall of which and the peripheral wall of the filter piston receiver is a narrow liquid filtering gap, and of a transverse partition (14), which is provided above the filter piston receiving cylinder (12) and which has a small borehole (22) from which an overflow rising tube (15) extends upwards into the sampling tube (16). The filter pot piston (13) extends axially downwards past the filter piston receiving cylinder (12) and is provided at its bottom end with a disc-like ring flange (17), between the outer circumference of which and the inner circumference of the receiving tube (11) is situated an annular gap (18) (Figure 3). <IMAGE>
