PURPOSE:To simultaneously stop the rotation of a read screw and the shift of a carriage and to attain the precise positioning by abutting a step part installed on the lead screw on a stopper with a step installed on the carriage. CONSTITUTION:A metallic annular member 9 with a stepped part 9a is fitted and fixed on the lead screw 2, and the stopper with a step is fitted on the carriage 3 by facing the annular member 9. When the carriage 3 reaches a moving limit with this constitution, the stepped part 9a of the annular member 9 is engaged with the stepped part 10a of the stopper 10. As a result the engagement inhibits the movement of the carriage 3 and stops the rotation of the screw 2. Accordingly the carriage 3 is not moved beyond the prescribed moving limit, and surely positioned at the prescribed place without fail.
