PURPOSE:To record a video signal at an exact track position by correcting the restoration to original reference position of a magnetic head according to a fluctuation due to a mounting error and a temperature. CONSTITUTION:The output 60 of a detector 58 is inputted to an original position restoring control part 62. The original position restoring control part 62, under the control of a recording control part 26, gives an instruction to a peak climbing control part 74 and a head phase control part 32, and when the video signal is recorded on a magnetic disc 34, the control to define the normal restoring position of a magnetic head 18 which becomes the reference of the track position to be recorded, that is, the original restoring position is performed. The control of an original position restoration is performed based on a correction data read out to an output 66 from the output 60 of the mechanical origin detector 58 or a correction data storing part 64.
