A device for controlling an internal combustion engine with fuel injection has an injection pump control rod (3), which is actuatable by way of a microcomputer (16) and a servo motor (13) as a function of operating variables, detected by means of measuring transducers (17, 20, 21), and of the position of the throttle lever. In order to be able to maintain emergency operation in the event of this electronic device failing, without having to dispense with the advantages of the electronic control, a direct non-positive connection is provided between the throttle lever (19) and the control rod (3).
