A device for making wall recesses for the subsequent mounting of sockets of an electrical installation, in particular hollow-wall sockets, comprising a basic body of round cross-section to which one end of a saw blade is preferably releasably attached, the front free end face of which has the tooth system, and in which a drill is releasably fastened in the centre of the basic body, which drill, in the assembled state, projects with its point beyond the saw blade. The free saw-blade end opposite the basic body has a cross-sectional configuration which has at least two, preferably diametrically opposite, non-circular sections. The saw blade, having a non-circular cross-sectional configuration, is carried by the basic body with a hollow-cylinder body in between.
