In order to be able to stack without any complications a cable channel (which channels can be stacked in one another) which has an approximately U-shaped profile, consists in particular of sheet steel and has side walls which are directed obliquely upwards and outwards from the channel base and end in longitudinally running rim edges which are bent around outwards through approximately 180 DEG , the side walls (2) in each case have a first side wall part (3) adjacent to the channel base (1), which side wall part (3) is bent inwards at an acute angle and merge into an outwardly bent step (4) which is at a distance from the channel base (1). A second side wall part (5) which is bent such that it is directly obliquely upwards and outwards and exhibits the rim edge (6) is connected to the outer edge part of said step (4), the unobstructed width (8) of the cable channel immediately above the steps (4) corresponding at least to the width (9) of the channel base side. <IMAGE>
