PURPOSE:To economically collect dust with less power, by automatically opening or closing a damper provided on the side of a dust collector in accordance with the motion of an extrusion ram of an extruder. CONSTITUTION:A collecting duct 2 is provided along the direction of oven blocks A-C of a coke oven 1. A suction duct 4 having a dust collector 3 is connected to the middle part of the duct. The dust collector 3 is provided with a suction blower with a passage-intercepting damper 5. The collecting duct 2 is provided with a connector 10 having a damper 14 corresponding to each carbonization chamber 1. A connector 9 which can be connected to the connector 10 on the side of the collecting duct is provided on the side of a coke guide 7. In this area, the damper 5 on the side of the dust collector is automatically opened or closed in accordance with the motion of the extruder ram 6. Thus, the damper 5 on the side of the dust collector is opened only for a period (tens of seconds) during which powdery dust is produced due to the extrusion of coke, and is kept closed for a period (about several min) during which the discharge of the contents of the oven is ceased, so that the load of the dust suction blower is kept low, which contributes to a marked reduction in the overall electric power consumption.
