The driver with overload protection is used in conveying installations preferably for conveying material 1 of the printing trade between processing machines of the printing trade. The object of the invention is to bring about a reduction in down times and repair times and a saving of material by means of a rationalisation of the conveying process. For this purpose, according to the invention, the overload protection of the conveying installation, which hitherto was located in the drive element, is transferred into each transport element, with the aim that the ability of this overload protection to differentiate between starting and stopping moments be pronounced, independently of the number of conveying elements. Furthermore, it becomes possible, by locking the deflected driver 2 by means of an overload protection 12, to determine where a selected deceleration moment is exceeded and, by means of an adjustable overload protection switch 16, to trigger the shutting-down of the conveying installation. <IMAGE>
