PURPOSE:A novel copolymer having improved weather resistance and ultraviolet absorbing ability free from bleedout of an ultraviolet adsorbing component, a random copolymer of ethylene and a specific vinyl monomer in a specific ratio. CONSTITUTION:Ethylene and 0.01-10mol% vinyl monomer shown by the formula (R<1> if H or CH3; R<2> is H or OH) are subjected to high-pressure radical polymerization usually in the presence of a catalyst such as ditertiary butyl peroxide, 2,2'-azobisisobutylonitrile, etc., preferably at 1,000-4,000kg/cm<2> at 150-300 deg.C, to give a novel ethylenic copolymer. USE:Useful for agricultural films, pipes, packaging films for foods, bottles, etc. |
