PURPOSE:To improve the measuring accuracy, economical efficiency, and maintenance easiness of a flow rate measuring method, by measuring the water pressure at a prescribed location of a door body and an overflowing water depth in accordance with the measured value of the water pressure. CONSTITUTION:When the detecting value of a pressure sensor 6 is known, the depth D of a prescribed location where the pressure sensor 6 is provided from the specific weight of water and the distance (overflowing water depth) H from the upper edge 3a of an upper door 3 to a water surface 8 can be found from H=D-L (where, L is the height from the prescribed location to the upper edge 3a beyond which water overflows). Therefore, the flow rate W of water can be obtained from W=AH<3/2> (where A is a constant). When the pressure sensor 6 is fitted to a prescribed location of the upper door 3 which is movable in the vertical direction, the overflowing water depth can be found by measuring the water pressure only irrespectively of the vertical movement of the door 3 and, therefore, the number of measuring instruments can be reduced to one from conventional methods, in which two measuring instruments are required. Accordingly, the measuring accuracy can be improved together with the economic efficiency.
