PURPOSE:To permit liquid droplets to discharge effectively with low energy by enabling a liquid to be heated for a necessary and sufficient time period by a method in which the liquid is heated in such a way as to meet a specific condition with respect to a time period (tau) from the leading half-value to the trailing half-value point of pulse signal. CONSTITUTION:An electric thermal converter 204 consisting of a lower layer 305, a heating resistor layer 306, and an upper layer 307 is formed on a Si wafer 201. The heating is made in such a way as to validate the equation (1), where d1 is thickness of the upper layer of the electric thermal converter, k(x) is heat conductivity at a position (x) measured along the thickwise direction of the layer from the boundary between the heating resistor layer and the upper layer to the acting direction of heat, c(x) specific heat, rho(x) is density, and also k2 is heat conductivity of liquid in the heat acting section, c2 is specific heat, rho2 is density of liquid, and rho2<nu> is density of liquid vapor at boiling point under the atmospheric pressure, with respect to the half-value width tau of pulse signal to be supplied to the electric thermal converter. |
