To reduce the multiplicity of special machines and/or devices which are used in bakeries and/or cake shops in particular, but also to reduce the number of very time-consuming manual and small-scale operations, a computer-controlled "allround machine" which has continuous-path control, via the machine table of which a conveyor belt can be optionally controlled in a forward or backward direction and which has two lifting arms which can be hydraulically extended both vertically and horizontally, one of which is situated right of the table and one of which is situated to the left of the table is substituted, reducing the manufacturing time for complex shapes (e.g. figure gateaux) by over 100%. To facilitate the production of bread rolls, the plaiting plates having the pieces of dough are mechanically swung into the working space and are automatically further processed. This machine is versatile, time saving and capable of extension. It has a great variety of applications and can be adapted to accommodate technological progress, both by the development of new tools and by reconfiguration simply by reprogramming via the operating panel. The finished pieces are all of the same size and shape and are of a constant quality.
